With the deadline for the transition from DSS to Walmart Luminate fast approaching, we realized many suppliers still have many open questions.
So, we launched our Luminate Webinar Series to serve as a town hall forum for suppliers to ask their questions, and learn new insights from each other.
The Q&A below are from the survey we sent before the first webinar to our Supplier Community. They are organized within three different buckets, "General, Data in Reports, and Data Pulls/Extractions".
We hope this Q&A helps address you or your team's questions, and helps make your transition from DSS to Luminate a little easier.
General Questions:
How much does Walmart charge for Walmart Luminate?
- % of retail sales – there are a lot of variables to take into consideration – get a demo from the Walmart Team
When is the new deadline for the migration from DSS to Luminate?
- Q2 of 2024 (April-May-June)
Do you know when Luminate will roll out in other markets? (Canada, Mexico, etc.)?
- No, but it is coming - only thing consistent in retail is change
I’ve spent so many years learning and mastering DSS. Why do I have to shift to Luminate now? Is it worth it for me?
- You are right. Change can be tough, especially since you have mastered DSS and know how to operate your Walmart business on it. But we recommend getting started with Walmart Luminate. Yes, it's very different from DSS, but if you don't start trying now, you're going to be lost when DSS goes away. And Walmart is taking feedback and making adjustments/improvements. Get your requests in now to expedite the answer
Is there a public list for updates the Luminate team is currently working on?
Will report sharing ever be available in the Basic version?
- It is not currently on the roadmap!
Data in Reports:
Do I have access to a 52-week forecast in the Basic version? How about in Charter?
- No, it’s only 39 weeks for both Basic and Charter
Can I get any store data in the DC metrics data set? For example, Traited Store Count.
- No, but you can run a separate report by item # and traited store count then run the DC Metric by item and then VLOOKUP the data to the report
Is there a way to pull Supply Plan report in Luminate?
- Supply Plan is available through the Order Forecast Database. Also, the trick is how you choose the time. If it’s before 2pm you have to choose yesterday as your time from. If it’s after 2pm, you can use today as your time frame
Is PO info available in Luminate?
Do you know if store level detail is available in Basic or is it just the Charter version?
- Yes, you can pull store level data in the Basic version
Will UPC be available for ECOM?
- They are working on it – multiple datasets are being worked on as well
Will “regular retail” be added to filter?
- Sales type is coming soon – this will allow you to filter regular retail only
Data Pulls/Extractions:
Is it normal that I am noticing my sales change in Luminate from one week to the next? For example, I pulled WK1 sales last Wednesday and then again today and the numbers are slightly different.
- Yes, this is normal. In DSS, we would see adjustments /late sales reporting for 2-3 weeks after on occasion. Not big adjustments but enough that you would have to do a double take. It’s been that way for years!
If my company transitions to Charter, will all my saved reports transfer over?
- Yes. They do transfer over. One of our customers just shifted to Charter and their reports transferred, but it took a few days.
Is there a way to pull week to date information TY and LY in Luminate?
- Yes, you can use "WMT Week to Date" after selecting "Walmart Date (Last 31 Days Only)" column for the filter
